Plant Your Own Food Box!
Kids bring your mom or dad to help you plant your own herb and salad cedar planter box to take home! Everything is supplied - simply come along and choose which plants you want in your planter and we will show you how to plant, water and maintain them. You will also be shown how to harvest your plants and be given recipes using your plants to try at home.

Kids Get Cooking and Gardening - Summer Program
5 day cooking and gardening program with a registered holistic
nutritionist and organic gardener with 12 years experience.
Each day participants will have the opportunity to work in an organic garden, learning how to grow their own food, planting and harvesting vegetables and herbs to use in the kitchen. Cooking time each day includes having fun learning basic kitchen skills, how to read a recipe, measuring, chopping, baking and sautéing using food from the garden to prepare a healthy lunch and snacks to enjoy.
Take home recipes, garden journal and seedlings.

Scratch - Offered Free
Scratch is a valuable 8 week food/cooking skills program for youth in
grades 8-10. Ideal for teens that want to enhance their food related
skills and employablility in the food industry, the program includes:
- foodsafe
- cooking/kitchen skills
- guest speakers
- possible volunteer placements

Growin' On Up - Offered Free
Growin' On Up is a cooking program for young parents (15 - 24 yrs) and
their children (up to age 6).
The group meets on Wednesdays to cook 2-3 recipes together, share them, and even take a little something home. Whenever possible, all the recipes will feature one key ingredient in a variety of ways, highlighting the flexibility of many of our staple vegetables. Participants can also expect hands-on educational activities related to nutrition, growing, harvesting, cooking and preserving healthy food.
Participation is free but to ensure there are enough supplies, registration is appreciated.

You Can Too! Canning Workshops
Do you want to know how to make jams, jellies, chutneys, pickles and
relishes to store, share or give as gifts? The Gleaning Program wants to
give you the skills and information to confidently and safely preserve
your own food at home. All supplies and equipment are provided.
Participants will take home a sample of the canning they make in the
kitchen. Recipes will be based on produce availability. Children over 10
are welcome if accompanied by an adult.
